The salty water drains humidity from the air and that provides a very special micro climate. According to the WHO, the World Health Organisation, this is the most healthy part of Europe. Especially people with problems like rheumatism feel a lot better regarding their health. In Torrevieja there is a long boulevard and a large harbour. There are a lot of souvenir stalls and there is a permanent children’s fair close to the harbour. On the beaches you can watch the sand sculptures and the various artists are showing their tricks and whims. There are also several markets with a lot of fresh food such as fish, fruit and vegetables. Also other cities and villages in the surrounding area are worth visiting, like Alicante, Cartagena, Orihuela and Elche, where you will find the biggest palm garden in Europe. Here you will find almost all the palm trees from all over the world. With around 330 days of sunshine per year and a temperature that can reach easily 20º C or more in wintertime, this area is an ideal place for hibernation. The Alicante airport is at a half hour drive and also the Murcia airport is half an hour away. That is where all the mayor companies are landing and taking off, such as Ryanair, Easyjet, Monarch, BA and many more.
